With liquid lipsticks being the in craze at the minute I have been experimenting with a number of them. In my opinion they have changed the lipstick world for the better, providing long-lasting results which I can’t see going anywhere any time soon!
As part of the L’Oréal infallible range, the 24 hour lip colours boast of being long lasting and touch proof. I purchased two colours: 404 Corail Constant which is coral colour with nearly an orange tinge which will be nice for the spring months; and 507 Relentless Rouge, a deep red colour.
Both colours have a subtle glitter / shine incorporated which can even be seen by looking at the container. This has the effective of giving the lips a classy sheen (but nothing over the top).
This product is double ended, the lip colour on one end, and a lip balm on the other. To use first apply the colour, letting it dry (this doesn’t take long at all) and then apply the lip balm over the top. The balm initially causes the lips to look rather glossy but this will fade to a much more unstated sheen. The balm can be reapplied over time if required.
As liquid lipsticks are known for having a drying side effect, I think L’Oréal used common sense and provided lip balm to counter this. I wouldn’t have called the lip colour formula overly drying, however it definitely isn’t moisturising on its own. Applying the lip balm makes it more comfortable on the lips and to be honest, I completely forgot I had the lip colour on as it felt so natural.
The dofa applicator is easy to use and a good shape for making a precise line at the edge of the lips. The product applies a little uneven and therefore this takes a little work, however 2 dips into the colour should be enough to cover the full lip area.
I have noticed a couple of differences between the two colours that I purchased, mainly that the lighter, coral colour (404) appeared to last much longer on the lips. I applied this colour at half 7 when going to work and it was still on my lips at 7 when arriving home — although not in perfect condition. Relentless Rouge also was long lasting, however due to its darker colour it was much more obvious when it started to fade / crumble.
Both colours crumble, which is most noticeable when eating and drinking as small pieces which have dried stick to your cup and food; I felt that Relentless Rouge (507) crumbled much more. Although this is annoying, the product can be reapplied without fully removing the original application from your lips.
Overall, I really do like L’Oréal Infallible 24h Lip Colours, being amongst the most long-lasting lipsticks I have tried to date.
The product is £9.99 and can be bought here. At the time of publishing, this product can be purchased as part of a 3 for 2 offer on selected L’Oréal products at both Boots and Superdrug.
